Public Policy Positions
Boeing is aggressively reducing its environmental footprint. For each of our major facilities, we are driving toward a 25% reduction in hazardous waste and greenhouse gas emissions, and a 25% improvement in energy efficiency and solid waste recycling, all by 2012.
On the product side, we are no less committed. We are engaged with policymakers and the aviation industry to advance policy goals that address climate change:
- Establishment of a global fuel efficiency standard for aviation through the International Civil Aviation Organization
- Transformation of air traffic management systems globally for more efficient airline operations
- Development and commercialization of sustainable biofuels for the aviation sector that do not compete with food crops
